Information on Coastal Surveillance 2009
IQPC’s sixth annual Coastal Surveillance conference, which took place in November 2009 at the Amara Sanctuary Resort Hotel, Sentosa, Singapore – was the best one yet because of the very impressive high level and regional representation from various agencies across the globe.
Delegates and speakers were from several countries including Malaysia, India, Argentina, Norway, Singapore, USA, Sweden, Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Philippines, Turkey, Yemen and the Netherlands.
The pre-event site tour to the Damen Shipyards Singapore was an exciting feature of the 2009 event. Attendees of the tour were provided with the unique opportunity to view Damen offshore patrol vessels, interceptors and search & rescue vessels during the visit.
Delegates of the two day main event benefited from sessions related to:
- Countering illegal trafficking
- Future requirements and new technologies to bolster capabilities
- Strategies on how to implement an enhanced MDA
- Processes for analysing surveillance gaps for readiness against asymmetric threats such as terrorism and piracy
- How to respond to environmental disasters and protecting marine resources
